How old must my child be?
Any child that is at least 4 years old and not older than 12 by April 30 of the current registration year is eligible to register. Under no circumstance will a child that is not of age be allowed to register.

How do I determine my child's league age?
League age is determined by your child's age on April 30th of the current registration year. You can determine your child's League age on this Little League Age Chart.

What are the ages for each league?

When is registration?
Registration for Spring baseball is held normally in January of each year. Fall baseball registration is held in August of each year. Be sure to check our website westendll.org for registration announcements. A couple of weeks prior to registration we will publish registration information in the Beaumont Enterprise's Thursdays "In The Game" section. We also place yard signs around town as well as distribute fliers throughout our local schools.

What forms will I need to register?
Each player must complete and bring to registration the following forms:
WELL Player Registration Form
Required for all player registrations

Little League Medical Release Form
Required for all player registrations

C-Flap Release Form
Optional only for players 10-12 years old and only if they desire to wear a batting helmet with a C-flap instead of the required full cage facemask

Volunteer Form
Required for anyone having "regular" contact with any WELL team.
All volunteers having "regular" contact with any WELL team must be approved by the WELL Board of Directors.

How much does it cost?
Your registration fee will cover the cost of your child's hat and jersey. The registration fee is $100 for the first child and $95 per child thereafter. West End Little League makes every effort to keep our registration fees as low as possible but there are many expenses that we have that other youth programs may not incur such as facility maintence which we must budget for. Scholarships are available on an individual basis for those families that truely have a need. We also glady accept donations to help defray our costs.

Do I have to live in West End Little League boundaries?
YES! You have to live within West End Little League boundaries to register and participate. You can view our current boundaries which are delineated by Little League District 12.

Does my child have to tryout?
Every child is required to tryout for Single A, Minor League and Major League. Tryouts give the coaches the opportunity to gauge your child's ability. Every child registered to play will be placed on a team. If a child does not tryout, the coaches will randomly draw your child's name. The tryouts simply consists of fielding, catching a couple of fly balls, hitting a couple of pitches, and throwing a couple of pitches. Tryouts are NOT held for T-ball and coach pitch. These teams are formed by WELL Player Agents.

When are the games and what times will my games be played?
Games are typically played on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays in the Spring between mid-March and late May. T-ball, Coach Pitch and Single A games begin at 5:15pm with a 1 hour 30 minute time limit. Minor League and Major League games begin at 5:15pm and 7:30pm with 1 hour and 45 minute time limits. Opening Day games as well as make-up games as scheduled by WELL may be scheduled on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

How are coaches selected?/Can I coach my child's team?
At the time of registration, please complete a Volunteer Application Form indicating your desire to coach you child's team. The West End Little League Board Of Directors will then select the coaches from the Volunteer applications received. West End Little League will perform background checks on all applicants and reserves the right to select coaches as well as refuse participation in keeping with West End's current By-Laws for such selections.

Will my children play on the same team?
If you have more than one child registered to play and their birthdates place them in the same league then yes, your children will play on the same team unless you request otherwise. Only children that reside in the same household will be placed on the same team. Relatives and friends will not be placed on the same team. You may request they play together but it will be up to the Player Agent and coaches at the time of the draft or player selection on whether they will be placed on the same team.

Can my child play up in an older age group?
No. All players must play in the appropriate league by age. The only exception(s) are those players who were affected by Little League's 2006 change to the birthday cutoff from August to May. These players may petition W.E.L.L. to continue with their league age group, as calculated with the August cutoff, subject to their participation in the tryout process and draft selection, if applicable for their league age. West End's Board reserves the right to make all decisions on each player's league age.

How are teams formed?
Teams are formed by a player draft or player selection sytems. After player tryouts and prior to the first practice, the coaches will meet to draft teams of their choosing. A coach's child is automatically placed on that coach's team. Coach Pitch and T-ball teams will be formed by Player Agents and coaches through a player selection process.

How much will my child get to play in games?
Each player,in compliance with current Little League and WELL Ground Rules, will be afforded the opportunity to meet all Minimum Play Requirements.

Can my daughter play at West End Little League?
Yes. While we do not have seperate leagues for girls, they are certainy welcome to participate at West End Little League.

Does West End Little League provide equipment?
West End Little League strongly encourages all players to purchase their own equipment including bats, gloves, helmets, and catching gear. Under no circumstance is your child required to share his own personal equipment with other children. West End Little League will provide each coach with a set of catching gear and batting helments, if requested. If your child will be using any league-issued equipment, please review the league safety policy related to sharing equipment.

All games are played at West End Little League located at 6225 N. Circuit Drive at Sallie Curtis Elementary School.

Does West End have a Fall Ball season?
Yes! Fall Ball at West End Little League is usually played from the middle of September to the end of October. A typical Fall Ball schedule includes 10 games. We normally offer three leagues in the fall for your children: Coach Pitch, Minor League, and Major League. Currently, WELL does not offer T-ball in the fall. Fall Ball at West End Little League is open to all age appropiate youths interested in participating. Players from other Little League programs are welcome to register if your league does not have a fall ball program.
